Learning · Practice · Public Programming

Where Narrative Leadership becomes practice.

The learning, practice and public-programming division of The Narrative Company™. We create workshops, cohorts, public forums, screenings, exchanges and field guides that help people make meaning, develop judgment and steward stories with care.

What happens here

Learning that moves into practice.

The Institute turns Narrative Leadership into guided learning, public conversation and tools people can carry into consequential work.

Participants locate the story shaping a moment, examine what it is asking of them and build the judgment to steward what follows—privately, institutionally or in public.

Where Possibility Lives

Baltimore ↔ Harlem · Founding Exchange

Possibility can live in any neighborhood when young people can locate themselves in history, make meaning of the lives and places that formed them, discover the story they are carrying, and learn to steward the stories of others with care.

01

Memory

Locate what has been inherited.

02

Meaning

Interpret what the moment asks.

03

Voice

Articulate a point of view.

04

Making

Create work that can travel.

The founding exchange

12 emerging storytellers · ages 18–24 · one shared learning room · two local studios · reciprocal city immersions

Meaning-making first. Narrative stewardship second. Production in service of both.

Proposed travel and final timing remain subject to underwriting, host partners and the completed operating plan.

Public programming

Where the work enters public life.

The Institute produces rooms where history, learning and original work can become visible without becoming spectacle.

Each format can be commissioned, hosted or underwritten with a clear scope, fair compensation and an agreed public purpose.

Screening + dialogue

The Room We Must Build Next

The first envisioned room begins with a proposed Baltimore screening of Once Upon a Time in Harlem and a live conversation tracing the cultural and historical line between Harlem and Baltimore—and the possibilities that line opens now.

Partnership can support film access, venue, production, speakers, accessibility and community participation.

Showcase + premiere

The Narrative Showcase

A produced capstone for Institute programs and exchanges, the Narrative Showcase premieres selected participant work alongside live conversation and makes the learning behind it visible. Each edition takes the shape of the program that produced it, allowing the format to return throughout the year without becoming repetitive.

Underwriting can support editing, exhibition, livestream, accessibility, participant travel and the public record of each program.

Partnership & underwriting

Access should widen
without the work becoming thin.

The Institute welcomes institutional partners, cultural organizations, funders, and sponsors who want to underwrite serious learning and public programming with clear scope, fair compensation, participant protection, and transparent stewardship.

The Narrative Leadership Institute™ is a program of The Narrative Company LLC.

Sponsorship and underwriting are contracted program support and are not represented as tax-deductible donations.
